Almudena Pardo, DVM & PhD, is the founder of Albiotech, a small company conveniently situated in Madrid capital, dedicated to providing high-quality scientific written materials for biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

As Albiotech´s founder and main medical writer, my emphasis is on providing client-focused, timely and highly specialized materials.

A veterinarian by training, in 1996 I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and obtained a PhD in microbiology from Columbia University, where I worked as a molecular virologist.

I began doing medical writing under the supervision of Dr. Hamish Young, C.S.H., including several publications and participation in a number of seminars at Columbia and MIT, and in international scientific meetings.

In Spain, I started my professional career within the Pharmaceutical Industry, first as Marketing Analyst at Sanofi Pasteur, where I had the chance to participate in the implementation of several initiatives within market research, and then at Wyeth Farma, as Medical Manager (antibiotics), where the functions of the position resulted in a great opportunity to get to know the client side for my business in medical writing. Thanks to my work as a medical manager, I had the chance to participate in the design and to carry out several clinical studies, to prepare slide decks and present in workshops and hospital rounds, and to review regulatory documents, all of which, together with my subsequent experience as promotional material reviewer at MSD, has widened my perspective and knowledge if the area I work in.

Specifically, within the field of medical writing, I started working in 2006 at the CRO Dynamic Solutions, where I wrote clinical study protocols and informed consents, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, monographs, abstracts, posters, and clinical study reports (CSRs), and in 2007, Albiotech was founded to provide writing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

I am a member of the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) and the Spanish Association of Writers of Medical Texts (AERTeM, by its Spanish acronym) (of which, I was also part of the administrative board for 5 years), which provide continued training and access to key industry networks.
